Malte Ubenauf

Malte Ubenauf initially worked as a director (at, among other theaters, Schauspielhaus Zürich; Kampnagel Hamburg), before he started working with Christoph Marthaler as a dramaturge at Schauspielhaus Zürich in 2003. He then worked for Frank Castorf at Volksbühne Berlin and Thalia Theater in Hamburg. Since 2005 Malte Ubenauf has been working primarily as a freelance theater and music theater dramaturge. He has particpated in productions by Armin Petras; Karin Henkel; Stefan Pucher; Jonathan Meese; Luk Perceval; Christopher Rüping; Falk Richter; and Robert Lehniger. He works continuously with Christoph Marthaler; Anna Viebrock; Christiane Pohle; and the independent Berlin music theater company NOVOFLOT. Stations of his work in theaters include Teatro Real Madrid; Opernhaus Zürich; Opéra National de Paris; Theater Basel; Vlaamse Opera in Antwerp / Ghent; Staatsoper Stuttgart; Kunstenfestivaldesarts in Brussels; the Salzburg Festival; Deutsches Schauspielhaus in Hamburg; the Bayreuth Festival; Schauspiel Köln; Ruhrtriennale; HAU Berlin; Bayerische Staatsoper; Hamburgische Staatsoper; Schauspiel Frankfurt; Münchner Kammerspiele; Wiener Festwochen; and Festival d\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\’Avignon. He has taught at the University of the Arts Berlin; the Hochschule für bildende Künste in Dresden and the Hochschule für bildende Künste in Hamburg (HFBK); the Otto Falckenberg School in Munich; theater academies in Hamburg and Bavaria; the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts; the Zurich University of the Arts; the University of Music and Theatre “Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy“ Leipzig; the University of Zurich; and the Hamburg HafenCity University.
Malte Ubenauf has been working as a dramaturge for the Munich Biennale together with Marion Hirte since 2016.
