Cordula Bürgi was born in Switzerland, and she studied violin under Daniel Dodds at the Lucerne School of Music; conducting under Raphael Immoos; and vocals under Hansjürg Rickenbacher. She also studied music education at the Academy of Music in Basel and cultural administration at the University of Zurich. She took advanced vocal lessons from Douglas Hines (Vienna), and she studied Gregorian performance methods under Professor Cornelius Pouderoijen in Vienna. From 1999 to 2014 she was choir director at the girls´ choir school Mädchenkantorei Basel, and in 2008 she took over as general manager there. She was in charge of choir rehearsals at Theater Basel; SWR Vokalensemble; and the Basler Madrigalisten. She has worked as a musical assistant at Opera Graz (“Operas of the Future“), and at Staatsoper Berlin for the rehearsals of the opera “Violetter Schnee“ (“Violet Snow“) by Beat Furrer, which had its world premiere on January 13, 2019. In 2016 she founded the professional vocal ensemble Cantando Admont, which specializes in new and early music.
