Christopher Lichtenstein

Christopher Lichtenstein graduated with a degree in conducting in 2010 in Würzburg, Germany. In 2010 he joined Staatstheater Braunschweig as a soloist coach with a commitment to conduct. After working in the positions of second conductor and then director of coaching at the same house, he was appointed principal conductor for the 2019/2020 season. During this time he was able to conduct a wide-ranging repertoire, which included major works in the house´s repertoire (“Aida“; “Tosca“; “La Boheme“; “The Flying Dutchman“; “Elektra“; “Don Giovanni“), rediscovered works (“The Journey of Edgar Allan Poe“; Jenö Hubay´s “Anna Karenina“; Egk´s “Peer Gynt“), world premieres (“Orlando“), and operetta classics (“Fledermaus“; “Les brigands“; “The Merry Widow“). Recently he was a guest conductor at Staatstheater Kassel (“The Merry Wives of Windsor“), and at Theater Regensburg (“Un ballo in maschera“). In October 2018 he had an engagement as a musical assistant on the production of “Le Nozze di Figaro“ at Pallas de bellas artes in Mexico City. He conducted a production of “The Passenger“ by M. Weinberg in 2019, which was acclaimed and praised throughout Germany. He conducted a guest performance of this opera at the Danish National Opera in 2018. During the current season Christopher Lichtenstein will take over the musical direction of “Faust“; “Angels in America“; and “Transstimme,“ and he will conduct performances of “Fidelio“ and “Eugen Onegin.“
